On the Theatre square at the initiative of the Representative office of the international organization for migration (IOM) in Ukraine and the Ministry of social policy with the assistance of the city Council of Lutsk and Volyn regional state administration took place the opening of the installation “FACES 3”. The event was attended by Deputy of the Lutsk mayor Yury Mollica, Director of the Department of social protection of population of the Volyn regional state administration Oksana Good, Director of the Volyn regional CSSD Vasily Panchuk, Chairman of the Board of public organization “Veles” Victor Valchuk and specialist Programme to combat human trafficking of IOM Mission in Ukraine Irina Malaveci. Irina Malaveci noted that “on the EDGE 3” is a temporary installation designed to draw attention to the problem of trafficking and to involve the public to prevent and combat modern-day slavery. According to estimates Representative of SMAC (IOM) in Ukraine, more than 160,000 Ukrainians have suffered from human trafficking since 1991. In her words, “on the VERGE 3” represents the three cube and they will be posted on the Theatre square until 22 February. They placed information about the phenomenon of trafficking, described the real story of the victims, tips from safe employment and travel, as well as numbers of hot lines on combating human trafficking. Addressing the audience, Deputy mayor Yury Molica noted that we are now living in the twenty-first century and still have such unpleasant things as trafficking, which were inherent in slave society. Now it is much more cynical and harder than it was in those days. It is necessary to struggle, because it is the safety of people. Many Lutsk, Volyn going abroad to work, study and want to warn people about the risks so they do not become victims. You need to really fight human trafficking. Yuri Molica noted that for the city government the important issue is the safety of citizens in the event of any problems you can always contact the Department of social policy or of Lutsk city center of social services for family, children and youth. It is worth noting that the national information campaign “FACES 3” is carried out by the IOM office in Ukraine in partnership with the Ministry of social policy of Ukraine with funding from the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway and the generous support of the American people through the U.S. Agency for international development (USAID).
