“We Ukrainians have returned from Afghanistan...”

Under this name in luck celebrate the Day of honoring combatants in the territory of other States and the 28-th anniversary of withdrawal of Soviet troops from Republic Afghanistan. The celebration took place in Volyn regional academic Ukrainian musical drama theatre. T. Shevchenko with participation of the first Deputy Chairman of the regional Council Alexander Eroica, the Secretary of city Council Julia Vasenko, Deputy mayor Andrew Kitties, deputies city and regional councils, Afghan war veterans, participants of the ATO, their families and the local community. The first addressed the brethren and guests of the event, the Chairman of Volyn regional Union of veterans of Afghanistan, the Deputy of Volyn regional Council Grigory Pavlovich. He urged those present a moment of silence to honor the heroism of soldiers — internationalists. In his speech, Gregory p. drew not only on the terrible and tragic memories of the Afghan past but also on the fact that this war was demopage to understand such important things as fighting friendship, love to the native land and a keen sense of justice. “Afghan soldiers were among the first to come to the Maidan and in the Ukrainian lands in the zone of the ATO. Our brothers are active members of the volunteer movement”, - he stressed. He also thanked the city authorities for helping the families of soldiers in the part of exemption from payment of utilities. Even Gregory p. gratefully remembered that despite his busy schedule, mayor Nicholas Romaniuk attended events organized by Volyn regional Union of veterans of Afghanistan. “We have always found his support and understanding,” he said. Congratulatory speech with words of gratitude and sorrow for all those killed in the fighting in Afghanistan was sounded by the first Deputy Chairman of regional Council Alexander Eroica. “Hundreds of lives gave the Ukrainians, performing our civic duty before the former Homeland — the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, our independent Ukraine again is in a state of armed confrontation with the Russian aggressor. And we will win!”, - he stressed. The Secretary of city Council Julia Bosenko appealed to the participants of the ceremony, soldiers-internationalists and relatives of those who never returned from the fighting, emphasizing that their tragic and heroic past is an example of courage and patriotism for the young generation of Ukrainians. “It's a shame that nowadays you have to re-experience times of concern over military actions, which continue in the East of Ukraine. Allow me to sincerely thank you for your boundless love for the Motherland. May God protects your family and will give many years of life in the land of peace,” he wished Julia Bosenko. Later, the soldiers-internationalists were presented with Honorary certificates and letters of Appreciation. For active citizenship, Patriotic education of the younger generation, and also on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of withdrawal of Soviet troops from Republic Afghanistan Honorary diploma of the mayor was given to activists of the Volyn regional organization of the Ukrainian Union of veterans of Afghanistan Solovky Gennady and Nikolay Curruca. Thanks mayor for active citizenship, Patriotic education of the younger generation, and also on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of withdrawal of Soviet troops from the Republic of Afghanistan announced to the activists of the Volyn regional organization of the Ukrainian Union of veterans of Afghanistan Vladimir Guysuco, Vladimir Sidoruk and Basil Tracing paper.
