In Chernihiv honored participants of combat actions on the territory of other States
In Chernihiv on February 15, the ceremony of laying flowers and meeting-Requiem on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and the day of honoring combatants in the territory of other States. Traditionally, the event was attended by the leaders of the city and region, veterans, former soldiers of the peacekeepers, the soldiers of the ATO, their families and the public of the city. The participants of the celebrations laid flowers at the monument to countrymen who died during the Revolution of Dignity and the antiterrorist operation in the East of the country. After that, a meeting was held with the participation of the Chairman of regional state administration Valeriy Kulich, the Chairman of regional Council Igor Vdovenko, Chernihiv mayor Vladislav Atroshenko near the monument to soldiers-internationalists in the Park area along the Avenue of the World. Present minute's silence in memory of all the victims compatriots and laid flowers to the monument. Roads of the Afghan war have been about 2 thousand Chernigov, 18 of them were killed, 1 missing, more than 100 people became invalids, about 400 more people died from diseases after the war. In General, the outcome of this tragic war in Ukraine did not return from the war, more than 3 thousand soldiers, of whom 3280 had died and another 80 were missing or captured. However, out of Afghanistan troops out with deployed military banners as winners, not losing a single military operation. In Chernigov in honor of those killed in Afghanistan named four streets, has 16 plaques. The combat experience of soldiers in Afghanistan is a valuable asset to the modern Ukrainian army. In the Armed Forces of Ukraine are serving officers and warrant officers who took part in the Afghan war and they are fighting for the independence of our country on the Eastern front in the war with the neighbor-an aggressor. In hard times - in the years of the Orange Revolution and the revolution of Dignity - soldiers-Afghans always been in the forefront of the struggle for defending the ideals of peace and democracy.
