the Prosecutor's office of Rivne region participated in the hearing of the indictment the agreement on recognition of guilt in respect of a resident of the area who committed crimes envisaged by article 198, part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 240 of the criminal code of Ukraine (purchase and sale of stones of amber, knowingly obtained by criminal means, the illegal mining of national importance). Pre-trial and judicial investigation proved that the man was engaged in illegal extraction of amber and buying this stone with the purpose of further sales. During the authorized search of his car in Rivne law enforcement officers found and seized the largest shipment of raw amber that ever was taken, namely 2 556 kg, the cost of which according to the conclusion of Gemological expertise is almost 3.7 million. According to the Rivne city court verdict the guilty person prosecuted and the decision to appeal seized of amber in the state. In the future, the Prosecutor's office found that the judgment which entered into force in may 2016, made only convicted in the part of the punishment, and transfer of exhibits (amber) state income by the respective competent authorities in the prescribed manner is not ensured. In this regard, the Prosecutor's office of Rivne region independently appealed to the relevant state institutions Kyiv, in which the store was kept withdrawn from illegal circulation of amber, with a letter about the urgent need for the execution of the sentence of the court, joining the necessary official documents. As a result, the Commission authorised state institutions 03.03.2017 amber weighing more than 2.5 tons worth UAH 3.7 million actually transferred to the state income and credited to the State Fund of precious metals and precious stones of Ukraine.
