From may 1, Chernihiv will introduce new standards for water use
20 April, the Executive Committee of the Chernihiv city Council made the decision about the approval of standards of drinking water for consumers KP "chernigovvodokanal", in households that do not have water meters. According to the head of KP "chernigovvodokanal" Sergei Midget, preliminary approval of standards was conducted in April 2014. Standards of drinking water supply for population of Chernihiv developed by the State enterprise "Scientific-research and design-technological Institute of municipal economy". The new standards are scientifically justified, because done on the basis of the analysis of the measure of the actual consumption by the population of the city. When conducting the research also found that actual water consumption of the population, with no individual metering significantly exceeds the existing norms of water consumption. The main factors which lead to the increase of specific water consumption in the absence of water meters in apartments is limited and delayed elimination of water leaks from water valves, especially valves drain tanks of toilets. During the discussion noted that this decision will encourage the city population to the efficient use of water and installation of water meters to determine the exact volume of its use. Sergey Malyavko also provided examples of norms of water consumption in different cities of Ukraine. Chernihiv city Chairman Vladislav Atroshenko noted that even the new standards of consumption in Chernihiv among the lowest compared to other cities in the country.
