The Prosecutor's office of Volyn region during the last six months of 2017 in the field of forest protection initiated 20 criminal proceedings on illegal felling of forests, abuse of power, forgery, and embezzlement (criminal offences under article 246, part 3, article 365, part 1 of article 366, part 2 of article 358, paragraph 5 of article 191 of the criminal code) committed by officials of the forestry enterprises of the region. During pre-judicial investigation of the specified criminal proceedings, the investigative and judicial prosecutors conducted more than 30 searches, including at the place of residence of the leaders of these companies, designated 44 check, sent 29 request to foreign competent authorities on the provision of legal aid, seized more than 15 thousand documents. In addition, the removal of 60 cubic meters of wood is not taken into account, analyzed information regarding the transportation of timber products of PJSC "Ukrzaliznytsya" in recent years, initiated the involvement of the Volyn customs DFS the responsibility of a number of sub's management for violation of customs regulations. The court has directed six indictments, two of which - in respect of managers of forestry companies in the region, the total damage in these industries is more than 11 million UAH.
