Chernivtsi: the high demand for passports possible delay in the issuance of documents

In connection with the situation around the design and printing of passports of the citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad with contactless electronic media, the State migration service of Ukraine and the State enterprise "Printing plant "Ukraina" for production of securities" report the following. As of July 5, 2017 in Ukraine and more than 4 million biometric passports for travel abroad, of which nearly 1.7 million are decorated in 2017. Through the combination of two factors – seasonal demand growth and the excitement associated with the introduction of a visa-free regime of Ukraine with the EU, starting in may, the demand for passports increased dramatically. Already units of the migration service centres providing administrative services is made more than 22 thousand orders per day, which is approximately twice more than in the same period last year. For its part, the State enterprise "Poligrafkombinat "Ukraine" these days as increased its production capacity – 35 %, which allowed in June 2017 at the request of the State migration service to produce and customize 300 thousand documents. This is three times more compared to the same period last year. Realizing the state importance of the production of biometric documents, the Polygraph "Ukraine" has always done everything possible to optimize the production process and on time to fulfill the order. So the PC "Ukraine" together with Ministry of economic development and trade is making efforts to acquire additional equipment for the production of passports of the citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad with contactless electronic media, which will significantly increase capacities of the enterprise and to meet the needs of the citizens of Ukraine. Increased demand and a sharp increase in the number of cleared documents can cause delays in issuing passports. To know the status of registration and printing of a document by electronic service on the official website of HMS Ukraine, the data service is updated three times a day. According to forecasts, the demand for passports is expected to decline for the second half of July – early August (as it happens every year at the end of the tourist summer season), therefore citizens who plan to travel abroad in the coming months, the migration service are advised not to stand in queues and to wait a few weeks and do all the paperwork in a much more comfortable environment.
