Started all-Ukrainian competition of journalistic works on the theme of decentralization

the Ministry of regional development, construction and housing and communal services of Ukraine and the Program of the Council of Europe "Decentralization and territorial consolidation in Ukraine" announced on 29 June this year, the launch of the national competition of journalistic works on the theme "Reforming local government and territorial organization of power" in 2017. "Local government reform and decentralization processes in Ukraine already have significant results. This significant increase of local budgets, and increasing the capacity of local authorities to solve most of the communities in various fields: medicine, education, infrastructure development, provision of administrative, utility and other services. But unfortunately, the reform still has many opponents who are trying to leave the old that is convenient for them, not for the residents of the communities the system, do not neglect the information manipulation, the spread of myths aimed at discrediting the changes that are being introduced. It does not harm those who believe in decentralization and implements the reform, but stopping to make the right decisions for those who still doubt. It is therefore important that as many people as possible to have unbiased information on the progress of decentralization in the country, its achievements, problems and prospects. And we count on the support of mass media", — commented First Deputy Minister of regional development, construction and housing and communal services of Ukraine Vyacheslav Negoda. To participate in the contest until 15 October 2017, there were four categories: * online publication * article (in print media), * radio material, * the video. The prize Fund of the Council of Europe Programme. In each of the four categories there are three awards: * First prize – RS 15,000, * II prize – UAH 10000 * III prize – 7000 UAH. The competition also provides for the award of the authors of a number of work incentive differences and inviting the winners to participate in international event in the field of local self-government in one of the member countries of the Council of Europe. The ceremony of awarding the winners of the Competition will be held in Kyiv at the end of 2017. The accepted materials are placed first in the regional media of all types (broadcasters, print and online media) and forms of ownership (state, private, municipal) not earlier than 1 January 2017. Thematic priorities of the contest works * The purpose, objectives, content, expected results and benefits of reforms aimed at decentralization and development of local self-government. * Voluntary Association of territorial communities. * Cooperation of local communities. * Financial decentralization and resource support to local and regional development (achieving communities, achieved through the changes introduced in the Budget and Tax codes). * Best practices of local governments on the socio-economic development of territories, their compliance with European standards and global trends.
