March 3, in the conference hall of the hotel "Podillya" took place the round table "the Image of women in the public space of the city of Vinnytsia and Vinnytsia region", initiated by the public organization "Progressive women". The event was held in the framework of implementation in Vinnytsya region "Regional integrated programme of family support, prevention of domestic violence, ensure equal rights and opportunities of women and men and the prevention of trafficking in human beings for the period until 2021", approved by the decision of the 13th session of the regional Council 7 convocation dated December 16, 2016 No. 226, and on the occasion of the International day of women's rights and peace. During the event discussed the problematic questions of representation of female image in the advertising media (in movies, on billboards, posters, leaflets, brochures, press etc), as well as the recommendations of the Expert Council on questions of counteraction of discrimination on the basis of the article, which was established and operates under the Department of social and youth policy of the regional state administration to combat discrimination. Special attention of participants of the "round table" was given to the way women are used in advertising campaigns of the city of Vinnitsa and the region as a whole. "We want to attract the attention of the women of the region and all concerned citizens to the problem of sexism in commercials, ads, billboards. Advertising must be professional. If a female character can be replaced on android and not lost the meaning of advertising, it is one of the indicators of professionalism", – said the President of public organization "Progressive women" Natalia Kozlova. During operation, the round table participants were presented the samples of advertising production in Vinnytsia region, where there is the presence of sexism against women. "The expert Council on questions of counteraction of discrimination on the basis of the article, which operates under the Department of social and youth policy of the administration, is an essential mechanism to address not only the manifestations of discrimination, and other negative phenomena, which are observed in our region", – said the head of the family Department, anti-trafficking and gender policy Department of social policy and youth of the regional state administration Svitlana iarmolenko.
